Episode 18.3

Lavinia leaves Dorina in the dressing room and runs into Rita in one of the hallways at the studio. They both stop. Lavinia quietly asks Rita if she left their mother alone at home. Rita explains that they have a private nurse now, thanks to Nico and Zossimo, and that Zoni is helping so she can work again.

Lavinia acknowledges the explanation and is about to walk away when Rita adds -- we're doing okay, in case you're interested. Barbara's therapy is going well. She's getting better. Lavinia just nods and continues walking down the hallway.

Zossimo escorts Dorina home from the ASAP guesting. As they enter the Pineda home, Zossimo tells her that Lavinia is just feeling threatened that's why she's trying to psyche Dorina out. When Dorina is quiet and looks preoccupied, he asks her if she'll be okay. She is quick to say yes, and explains that she's just got a lot of things on her mind. Zossimo nods and says it's only natural. Aside from the upcoming concert, she's no doubt worried about Adora and thinking about Rosamia.

Zossimo goes on to tell her that after the concert, she can relax and take a vacation for as long as she wants. So she can spend time with her family. Dorina smiles and says that sounds good. Zossimo leaves.

Dorina is about to close the door to her home but she stops and thinks for a moment before she comes to a decision. Instead of entering the house, Dorina closes the door and leaves.

At their small apartment, Barbara is now moving around the living area with a walker. She looks much better. Rita hovers beside her, complimenting her on her progress. The private nurse watches attentively from behind Barbara. Rita remarks that at her rate of progress, Barbara will soon be able to go shopping. Barbara says that would be a good thing because she's so bored staying at home.

Barbara reaches the other side of the living room and sits down for a moment to rest. Rita asks her if she's hungry, because she's prepared a lasagna dish. Barbara smiles and confesses that the smell of the food is making her hungry. Rita smiles and gets up to prepare a plate for her mother.

Unknown to Barbara and Rita, Lavinia pulls up in front of their apartment in a Mercedes. She gets out of the car and through the glass on the front door, she watches her mother and sister eating and laughing together. Inside, Barbara compliments Rita's cooking, saying that she's ready to get married. Rita laughs. Mother and daughter continue to banter over their meal, as Lavinia sadly watches them from outside. She finally turns and gets back into her car.

Dorina returns to her old neighborhood and stands in front of her old home, which is now empty. Oman comes out of his dorm just then and is surprised to see her. He asks her what she's doing there. Dorina is also surprised to see him. She says she came because she misses her old home. It may have a lot holes in the roof, and it's even got some termites, but she sometimes wishes that they never left that house.

Oman asks her if she has a problem. Dorina tearfully says she doesn't seem to be cut out to be a singer. She knows that a lot of people would give up an arm and a leg to be where she is now. And she's thankful to God for all her blessings. But she thinks she can't handle it anymore.... all the intrigues... the competition. She's not used to having enemies. She's not used to that kind of world. Oman tries to comfort her.

Lavinia returns to her large home... and finds herself alone once again. She sits on the couch for a moment, then gets up to go to the phone. She calls Libby and asks her to have all the PAs as well as Libby herself to come to her house for a meeting. When Libby protests, saying that it's getting late, Lavinia overrides her objections and insists that they come.

Now seated at one of the nearby benches outside the dorm, Oman asks Dorina what she wants for herself. Dorina says she always thought that this career was what she had wanted all along. At first, it was wonderful and blinding, like a beautiful dream. But now it's turning into a nightmare.

She asks him if she's right to feel the way she does. Oman is about to answer when Kylie suddenly arrives and asks Oman if he's ready to go. Dorina is dismayed to see Kylie but she quickly conceals her feelings. She remarks to Oman that it's no wonder he's all dressed up like he's about to go somewhere. She asks if they've got plans, and Kylie reveals that she's about to introduce Oman to her father.

Dorina is surprised, and quickly says that they should go then, and that it's about time she leaves anyway. Oman tries to think of something to say, and blurts out that she should come with them. Dorina makes her excuses and says Adora is probably waiting for her by now. She quickly walks away. Oman calls out her name and when Dorina turns to look at him, he can't think of anything to say. He finally wishes her luck on her concert. Dorina thanks him and leaves.

Oman and Kylie arrive at a restaurant to find Kylie's father already there, seated at a table. After they take their seats, Kylie's father says he's heard great things about Oman.

Oman is embarrassed and surprised, and asks what he's heard. Kylie's father explains that he hasn't actually heard anything, but by observing Kylie, he has formed an opinion of Oman. Kylie's father reveals that he has long nagged his daughter to be serious with her studies. Unfortunately, all her previous friends have exerted a bad influence on her. But Oman is different. Since he became her friend, Kylie's grades have been great.

Kylie's father thanks Oman for his influence on Kylie, and says that if Oman is interested, he'd like to offer Oman a job. He explains that the foreman of his hacienda is due to retire soon, and he asks Oman if he would be interested in taking over as the foreman of the hacienda in Iloilo.

Dorina visits Adora in her bedroom and asks how she's doing. Adora says she feels much better, that she's got more energy the past few days. Adora asks Dorina how her duet with Lavinia went, saying she did not get to watch it. Dorina says it went well and doesn't provide more details.

Adora says she's excited about the concert. She's sure that Dorina will emerge the better singer. When Dorina tries to downplay Adora's confidence, Adora insists that it's true. She says she knew even while Dorina was still a child that she will become a great singer. Adora says every time she sees Dorina on stage, she knows she's right -- that Dorina belongs on centerstage.

Dorina smiles and tells Adora she should go to sleep. Adora obediently closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep. Bencho is already asleep beside her. Dorina sits with her back to the wall in bed, and thinks of the path she has taken to reach the point she's at now in her career. Adora's words echo in her head, asking her to continue the fight and to do it for Adora.

Dorina resolves to herself that she will not give up because Adora has sacrified so much to get her to where she is. She will not let Adora down. She will not give up.

At the restaurant, Oman is surprised by the job offer. He asks Kylie's father if he's sure about the job offer since being foreman of a hacienda is a big job. Kylie's father says not to worry because Oman won't start without getting some training first. When Oman says he hasn't even finished studying yet, Kylie's father says it's not important for the job... after all, his previous foreman didn't graduate college either.

Kylie's father says what's important is that Oman knows how to deal with people. Kylie interjects at that point and says her father is saying subtly that if Oman was able to change Kylie, he can handle the people at the hacienda.

Kylie's father explains that offering Oman the job was Kylie's idea and that he had only humored his daughter by agreeing to meet Oman. But now that he's met Oman, he knows he will fit well with the job, which is why he decided to push through with the job offer. He tells Oman that he has a gut instinct about people that has served him well over the years.

All the PAs and Libby herself have arrived at Lavinia's home. They are meeting and discussing details of the upcoming concert. There's an empty pizza box in the middle of the table, as well as assorted paperwork and drinks.

Libby tries to wrap up the discussion saying that they've already gone over everything important, but Lavinia doesn't want to be alone in the house and stops them from leaving, claiming that there's a lot that still needs to be discussed. She orders more food and drinks to be served. Libby has no choice but to stay.

In school the next day, Kylie asks Oman if her father's offer surprised him. Oman says he still can't believe it. Kylie says her dad is really like that. He offers people jobs based on his instincts. Kylie says that's how he hired his previous foreman, Mang Julio. Apparently, Kylie's father had experienced some car trouble and Mang Julio happened to be there and had helped him. On the basis of that encounter, Kylie's father had offered the foreman position to Mang Julio and he has stayed on for 12 years.

Oman says Kylie's father is taking a lot of risk, offering the job to someone he hardly knows. Kylie says her father may not know Oman, but she knows him very well. He's honest, hard working, and knows how to get along with people. Kylie urges him to accept the job, especially since it will pay more than the job he's got right now as a waiter.

At rehearsals, Jack looks over a new piece and asks Dorina if she knows the song. She says she's not too familiar with it. Jack tells her not to worry since they can walk through it together.

Fans are lined up in two separate but adjacent lines to buy tickets for the grand showdown between Dorina and Lavinia. There is one line per singer. Before long, one of the attendants at the ticket outlet comes out and places a "Sold Out" sign in front of Dorina's ticket line.

At the end of rehearsals, Dorina grabs her things in a rush. She apologizes to Jack saying she's in a bit of a hurry. Jack assures her that it's no problem, and Dorina rushes out of the room.

At the hospital, Adora is going through her chemo and suffering. Dorina arrives just then and apologizes for being late. Adora is in a lot of pain and asks if it's possible to stop the procedure. Dorina quietly encourages her, saying she knows Adora can handle it. Adora continues to moan in pain and asks the doctor if they can stop now because she can't handle it. Dorina continues to encourage Adora, saying she only needs to keep at it a little longer.

Later, the Pineda family is back home, getting Adora into bed. Adora asks Bencho to get a plastic basin for her in case she throws up. After Bencho leaves the room, Adora asks Dorina why she's got such a long face. She assures Dorina that she's better and that her weakness now is just the effect of the chemo.

Dorina says she knows Adora won't give up. Adora assures Dorina that as far as she's concerned, the fight is not yet over. Adora is pleased when Dorina smiles at that statement. She tells Dorina that Bencho is taking too long and asks Dorina to check on her sister.

The next day, Dorina comes out of her front door and meets Emilio at the driveway. She asks Emilio if they can go to the bars in Mandaluyong, because Rosamia might be performing there. Emilio hesitates then says that it's possible they're just wasting their time.

When Dorina looks confused, Emilio explains that Rosamia knows they'll look for her in clubs so she's sure to avoid them. He says maybe they shouldn't try too hard to find Rosamia.

Dorina explains that she really wants to find Rosamia because it's possible that Rosamia is staying away from them because she thinks that Dorina is still angry at her. Dorina explains that the last words she spoke to Rosamia were harsh and in anger. She tells Emilio that she told Rosamia she wishes she had not met her mother.

Emilio says that it's not her fault, that it's Rosamia's decision to stay away from them. Dorina says she just wants a chance to tell Rosamia that she loves her so much. She thinks that Rosamia will not stay away if she knows the truth.

Rosamia is at the employment agency, talking to her agent. The agent explains that Rosamia will need to go through an orientation course to become familiar with the culture of the country where she's going. Rosamia asks if other people will be attending the course also, and says that if there will be other people, she would rather not go through the course because she doesn't want it leaked to the press that she's going abroad. The agent says she had not thought about that possibility, and offers to get materials that Rosamia can review at home instead.

The agent leaves the room to get the materials, leaving Rosamia alone. Just then, Dorina appears on a talk show on the nearby TV in the room and Rosamia's attention is immediately drawn to the screen.

The talk show host asks Dorina about the preparations for her concert. Dorina says that everything with the concert is going well, but explains that she she didn't come on the show to talk about the concert... that she wants to talk about something else.
