Episode 16.5

CF's Note: This episode summary is incomplete due to problems encountered with my recorder. :-( Only the second half of the episode is summarized.

___

Rosamia is feeding Bencho dinner. Bencho asks Rosamia why they don't just answer the questions of all the reporters so they can all leave. Rosamia gives the question some thought but does not say anything.

Gary is sitting at the foot of the stairs at Dorina's temporary hideaway when Dorina comes down. She asks him what he's doing there, and he says he's just sitting there in case she needs anything, because he wants to be on hand.

Dorina sits down on the step with him, and asks why he's so good to her. Gary looks at her for a moment, then tells her she knows the answer to that question.

Before Dorina can say more, the door opens and Nico comes in. Dorina asks him if he saw the interview. Nico says yes and that he has someone with him who wants to talk to her. Emilio appears in the doorway.

Emilio and Dorina sit together in the living room. Emilio starts by calling her anak. Dorina is already crying, and asks him if it's all true? That it's not just rumors and speculation? Emilio takes a deep breath and nods.

Dorina asks him why they didn't tell her. Is it because they didn't want her as a daughter? Emilio quickly says that's not true and that she shouldn't think that way. He tells her that it was so painful for him to be with Dorina and yet not be able to truly be there with her, to hug her or tell her that he's her father, or how much he loves her.

Dorina asks him why they kept it a secret. Emilio explains that they wanted to protect her. He has a tarnished past and if people know of it, her enemies will use it against her as they are doing now. So he and Adora were afraid...

Dorina is surprised to learn that Adora knew all along. Dorina asks if they all knew. When Emilio doesn't deny it, she angrily says they've all been deceiving her. Emilio explains that it was not their intention; that they only wanted what's best for her. They didn't want to damage her career because it is so important to her.

Dorina says her career could never be as important as her family. She says there's no way she would ever exchange her family for her career. Emilio asks for her forgiveness. He says they did it all out of love. The two of them hug each other tightly as Emilio asks for forgiveness again.

Outside the Pineda home, the reporters rush to the door as Rosamia appears at the doorway. When they start throwing questions at her, Rosamia confirms that she is married to Emilio and that he was in jail for 17 years. It's also true that she became an alcholic and that she didn't take care of herself. But, she says, Dorina is not their daughter, because Emilia Rose is dead.

Nico, Dorina, and Gary watch the latest entertainment news and see a video of Rosamia denying that Dorina is her daughter. Dorina listens to this but has no overt reaction. Nico and Gary look at her with concern.

Dorina finally says she wants to go home. Nico advises her to wait until things have cooled down, but Dorina says she can't hide forever. She needs to face the truth. She needs to go home. Nico relents and says he'll hire some security.

At the hospital, Adora is asleep in bed and Minda is watching TV. She sees a video of Oscar's explosive interview and Rosamia's subsequent denial. As the TV Reporter wraps up her interview, she says they have yet to hear from Adora Pineda, whom Dorina acknowledges as her mother. Minda turns to look at Adora, but she is still fast asleep.

Zossimo drives Dorina home, and the newly hired security personnel do a good job of keeping the reporters away. Zossimo and Dorina enter the house and find Rosamia sitting and waiting in the living room. Dorina tries to walk past Rosamia, but Rosamia calls her name and stops her, asking for a chance to explain.

Dorina tells her there's no need to explain anything anymore, because it's all quite clear to her.
