Episode 13.5
As she sings, we see a montage of scenes from earlier episodes that recap the evolution of Oman and Dorina's relationship.
At the end of her set, the crowd is on its feet applauding her, and she notices Oman in the crowd with a girl she does not know.
Dorina comes down to the audience to greet Oman. He says Kylie insisted on meeting Dorina, because she's a big fan. Kylie says she didn't quite believe Oman when he said Dorina is really his best friend. Dorina lets slip that she also didn't quite believe that Kylie was real, either. When Kylie looks surprised, Dorina changes the subject and asks how they met.
Kylie launches into an animated story about Oman's first day in school and how she helped him find his class. Dorina grows uncomfortable as she watches Oman and Kylie teasing each other -- they obviously have become fast friends in such a short time.
Barbara meets with Brandon, a singer who is scheduled to have a concert soon. She is trying to convince him to get Snow White as his front act. In a bid to convince him, she has Snow White sing a few lines, and it's enough to convince Brandon that Snow White is a lost cause. He asks for the check to end the meeting. Barbara berates him for being a poor judge of talent.
At the end of the band's second set, Gary comes backstage and tells her that Oman's friend is waiting to get her autograph. He asks her if she's okay, saying he noticed a sudden drop in her energy level during the second set. She excuses it by saying she has a headache. Gary offers to look for a pain reliever for her. She gratefully accepts his offer.
Jay and Chris are leaving the venue when Jay receives a text message from Larry asking for a meeting. When Chris asks what explanation they will give the guys, Jay says he'll take care of it. Plus for all they know, Larry is ready with a contract for them already.
Just then, Gary finds them and asks why they suddenly stopped talking. Jay says it's nothing, and tells Gary that he and Chris have somewhere to go to, prompting Gary to ask where. Jay doesn't answer the question; he only says that even his own mother doesn't ask him questions like that. The two guitarists leave.
Jay and Chris are waiting in front of La Calma's office building when Larry pulls up in his car. Unknown to them, Gary has followed Jay and Chris in his own car and now he has proof that they're conniving with the enemy.
Dorina and Emilio arrive home. Emilio asks her if there's something wrong because he's noticed that she's so quiet. She asks him what he thinks of Kylie. Emilio says she seems to be nice, and that she and Oman seem to get along very well. Dorina thanks him and says goodnight, then quickly heads up the stairs.
Emilio is about to leave, but he hears a noise from the kitchen. He enters to find Adora sitting on the kitchen counter, crying. Adora tries to pretend there's nothing wrong and just asks where Dorina is. Emilio tells her that Dorina is upstairs and asks her what's wrong. Adora hesitates, but eventually reveals to him that she has cancer and that she is dying. Emilio is shocked.
Jay and Chris reveal Dorina's concert line-up to Larry. He escorts them out of the office and asks them to let him know if there are further changes. After Larry returns to his office, Chris tells Jay he shouldn't have given Larry the song line-up. Jay tells him it's no big deal. He says Larry just doesn't want both concerts to have the same songs.
They start heading out of the office and come face to face with Gary, who's been waiting for them. Jay tries to explain but Gary doesn't give him a chance -- he just punches Jay in the face. Jay falls to the ground and Chris rushes to his side. Gary calls them "Judas" (traitors) and says they're kicked off the band. He also warns them not to return to his house.
Adora and Emilio exit the house to talk in the driveway. Adora says she doesn't understand why this is happening. Just when their lives are finally on track, the problems keep coming. She asks if there will ever be a moment when they'll finally be truly, completely happy. Emilio says that will never happen, because for the rest of their lives, they will continuously meet challenges. It's the challenges that make us stronger.
Adora asks why it seems like the challenges are too overwhelming, it's like God is not paying attention. Emilio asks if she's angry. He says it's only natural to be angry, but says she should not lose hope, or lose faith in God -- faith that only God knows what's best for us.
She says she doesn't know what to do. She asks what will happen to Dorina and Bencho once she's gone? She says she doesn't want to leave them. He hugs her to comfort her as she continues to cry. There are no easy answers.
In Nico's office, Zossimo shows Nico a tabloid article that implies Lavinia is once again dating, and this time she's seeing Larry Calma. Apparently, they're often seen together now. Zossimo says there's even been a rumor that Larry has proposed marriage. Nico says he knew it! That Lavinia has been deceiving him. Nico tells Zossimo that Lavinia played him for a fool by telling him that Larry has been hurting her.
Zossimo tells him what's important is that Nico didn't fall for the lie. Lavinia failed.
Just then, the phone rings. Nico's assistant tells him Gary and Jack are there to see him and that they say it's important. When Gary and Jack enter, they share the bad news: Jay and Chris have been spying on them for Larry. They now know the entire song line-up for Dorina's concert. Gary apologizes to Nico and says they need to start from square one and come up with a new line-up.
Nico is so upset that he leaves the room without saying another word. Gary, Jack, and Zossimo can only look at each other.
At the Pineda household the next morning, Dorina and Bencho greet Oman, who is sitting at the dining table waiting for them. Oman asks what happened to Dorina the night before; she just disappeared all of a sudden. Dorina says she got a headache so she left as soon as she could. She tells him it's great that he's there to visit, because her entire morning is free and they can talk for hours.
Oman reluctantly tells her he can't stay long because he needs to study. Dorina is disappoitned. He then pulls out one of her cds and asks her to autograph it. He says it's for his friend, Kylie. Dorina asks him if that's why he came to visit. Oman says yes, and says he hopes she doesn't mind. Apparently, Kylie has been nagging him to get an autograph from Dorina. Dorina signs the cd, although it's obvious that she's not too thrilled.
Oman thanks her and reads the message "Thanks. Love, Dorina" and doesn't notice that Dorina's not even looking at him because she's unhappy about the situation.
Nico and Zossimo are in a boxing gym working out. After a flurry of punches on a bag, Zossimo asks him if he's feeling better. Nico says he really just needs to let out a lot of aggression, because of the way Larry and Lavinia are fighting dirty.
Just then, Larry and Lavinia walk in. She notices Nico almost immediately and goes to talk to him. He meets her half-way, ignoring Zossimo's suggestion that Nico just ignore her.
Nico congratulates Lavinia and she asks what for? He says for her engagement to Larry. She says it's just a rumour, that she hasn't decided yet about Larry's proposal. Nico says -- but it's true that he proposed right? And you're thinking about it.
She asks him what he thinks. He tells her he doesn't get it. He proposed to her and she rejected him. But when Larry comes along, she's actually thinking about his proposal.
Lavinia says Nico and Larry are different. If she marries Larry, he'll just take better care of her career.... unlike Nico, who is asking her to give up her career. She says Larry is giving her the thing she wants the most -- fame.
Nico says -- so you're doing this just for your career, you don't actually love Larry. Lavinia smiles coyly and tells him he's the one saying that, not her. She turns away and returns to Larry. Across the room, Larry and Nico glare at each other, before Nico turns away.
Later, Nico is in the boxing ring sparring with a trainer, when Larry climbs in and challenges him to a fight. Nico accepts. Larry immediately comes in with a flurry of punches, before Nico is even prepared. Lavinia sits on the sidelines and is pleased to see Nico getting punched, and soon bleeding from cuts on his face.
But Nico eventually recovers and comes back swinging at Larry, and the latter's face is soon bleeding profusely as well. Nico's final punch sends Larry onto the ropes. His vision blurred, Larry hangs onto the ropes and barely makes out Lavinia's face as she stares at him with disapproval and disappointment.
Fueled by the look on her face, Larry turns and charges Nico while the latter has his back turned. Larry's blow takes Nico by surprise and he eventually falls to the floor. Larry pounces on him and starts punching him repeatedly. Trainers eventually have to pull Larry off of Nico.
Jay and Chris meet with Larry at his office and reveal that Gary has learned the truth and kicked them off the band. Chris asks Larry if he's still signing them up. Larry says yes, and that Libby will take care of the contract. The two guitarists are relieved and thank Larry.
Libby escorts them out and comes back in to ask if Larry is really signing them up. Larry says of course not. He tells Libby to take care of them. She can only shake her head as she leaves Larry's office.
At Zoni, Nico is seated at his desk wearing sunglasses as he reviews a new line-up of songs. When he gets up, he takes the glasses off, revealing a cut lip and several bruises on his face. He presents the new song line-up to Gary.
Dorina is shocked by his injuries, and asks him what happened. Nico doesn't want to talk about it and says they should just focus on the problem at hand. Zossimo says they need to find replacements for Chris and Jay.
Gary reviews the new line-up of songs, which Zossimo and Nico have come up with for their concert. Dorina can only watch Nico with concern as he returns to sit behind his desk.
