Episode 10.1
Dorina claims the child's room in Rosamia's home as her own bedroom. She says she likes the decor as it is -- the way Rosamia left it.
Rita sneaks off to the second floor balcony so she can see Jack as they talk on their mobile phones. She says the maids have been ordered to watch her, so she can't talk long. He notices the bandage on her hand and asks if Barbara hurt her. Rita says she doesn't want to talk about it, and changes the subject by saying she's so happy to see him.
Jack's voice is heavy with emotion as he tells her he'll come every night to see her. Tearfully, she tells him not to come because they can't see each other anymore. He says he won't let that happen. She pleads with him to not come back, that if he cares for her at all he won't come back. He asks her if that's really what she wants, and she turns away from him before she finally says yes.
Jack is hurt. With tears streaming down his face, he finally agrees. She bids him goodbye and returns to her bedroom, leaving him down on the street staring at the balcony, his face wet with tears.
Oman is walking down the street and finds himself in front of a guitar shop. The proprietor tells him that with a chordbook, he can teach himself how to play. Oman buys one.
Back home, Oman is struggling with the guitar when Dorina walks in. He's surprised to see her. Dorina explains that she's on her way to see Rosamia but decided to stop by to see him first. When she asks if he's okay, he tells her he's fine and dismisses her concern. He also asks her to leave so he can go back to practicing. Happy to see him back to his old self, Dorina tells him to work hard on learning the guitar so he can join the band. Oman is happy to hear this.
At Rosamia's home, Dorina tells Rosamia that she's moved into her former home. Rosamia is happy at this news, because she's sure they'll take good care of the house. She shares how she designed and saved for that house because it's her dream house.
Dorina asks her if she would consider living there again with the Pineda family. At first, Rosamia seems open to the idea, but her expression suddenly changes. She angrily asks Dorina why she would want Rosamia to move back there? Is it so she can be reminded of what she has lost? To feel useless and regret all the opportunities that she has squandered? Angrily, she tells Dorina she doesn't need her help, then walks out of the living room.
Some time later, Rosamia finally emerges from her bedroom to find Dorina still waiting. Dorina apologizes and says she never meant to insult Rosamia. She thought that Rosamia would be happy to move back to her old home. Rosamia quietly says she has turned her back on everything in her past, including that house. She asks Dorina to not mention it again. Dorina agrees. Smiling, Rosamia tells Dorina it's time to start her next voice lesson.
Lavinia enters the dining room to confront Barbara, waving a bank statement in the air. She demands to know why Barbara has more money in her account than she does. When Barbara asks why she opened Barbara's bank statement, Lavinia explains that it comes in the same envelope, so she thought it was her own statement.
When Lavinia once again asks why Barbara has more money, Barbara says it's only right since she's Lavinia's discoverer, manager, and her mother as well. She is fulfilling many roles, so it's only right that she has more money. Challengingly, she asks Lavinia if there's a problem, and Lavinia says no, then walks out of the room.
Dorina asks Adora if she's seen her black sandals since she needs them for her appearance later. Adora says it's still in one of the boxes back at their old house. She offers to pick the shoes up later and bring them to ABS for Dorina. Adora also mentions that it's too bad none of them know how to drive, because otherwise they could use the van that Nico provided.
Oscar is at the Arguelles home, telling Barbara and Lavinia that Dorina is too wholesome because the only intrigues that he can make up with are too small to make a dent on Dorina's image. Barbara says it's only a matter of time before he can find something useful, and that they can wait. When Barbara asks Lavinia for her opinion, it becomes obvious that Lavinia is still unhappy, because she rudely walks out.
Bombi and Emilio are once again discussing Emilio's search. Emilio says he wants to go back to the neighborhood where Adora Pineda lives, because he hopes that one of her neighbors can tell him where she has moved to.
Barbara is trying to discuss strategy with Lavinia, but the singer is still not in the mood. Barbara confronts her about her attitude and says if Lavinia has a problem, she should say it. Lavinia says she wants a new car, a BMW. Barbara says she should go ahead and buy one. Lavinia says she doesn't have enough money in her account, then pointedly says maybe they should use the money in Barbara's account instead.
Angrily, Barbara tells her there's no money to spend and that they already have a car. Lavinia says she wants a new car. She wants her own car. She wants to enjoy the fruits of her labor, the way Barbara is. Barbara angrily asks if she's insinuating something, and Lavinia sarcastically asks if she's getting the hint.
Now truly angry, Barbara asks Lavinia how she can dare to talk back in this way. Lavinia reminds Barbara that she asked Lavinia to say what her problem is. And here it is: She doesn't understand why she works so hard and yet can't afford to buy what she wants. She doesn't understand why Barbara gets the lion's share of the money. She also doesn't understand why she has no say in this household. Since she's the breadwinner, it's only right she gets her way.
Barbara asks her if she's done, then says she's the mother of the household so it's only right that she has the final say. She has fulfilled Lavinia's dream to be a famous singer, that's what's important, so Lavinia has no right to complain.
Lavinia tells Barbara that the only thing she cares about is money, and accuses Barbara of cheating her. Barbara slaps her and says she's done and continues to do a lot for Lavinia and for the family. She says the money that she has now is nothing compared to all the dirt she has had to crawl through to get Lavinia to where she is.
Lavinia simply glares back at her and when Barbara finishes talking, the singer merely asks if Barbara has anything else to say. When Barbara says nothing, Lavinia turns her back and walks away.
Nico fusses over Dorina backstage at her next appearance, then asks her to stop calling him Sir and call him Nico instead, especially since he's not much older than her. Gary is uneasy as he stands there listening to this exchange.
After Nico leaves, Dorina smilingly remarks that Nico is such a good man. Hoping to stop Dorina from falling for Nico, Gary reminds her that it's only natural that they're good to her because she's useful to them right now. But once her usefulness ends, they won't be like that anymore. Just look at Rosamia. Dorina scoffs at this and says Larry Calma was the one who did that to Rosamia, and that Nico is different.
Jack, Jay, and Chris are rehearsing on their own, with Jay and Chris providing the vocals to "A Million Miles Away." A staffer hears them and applauds them at the end of their song. The boys are flattered, but Jack just sits quietly brooding. After the staff leaves, Chris asks Jack if he's still thinking of Rita. Jay tells him it's better to forget about her and to focus on his career instead, because his career will be a better girlfriend. Jack turns to look at him, but says nothing.
Emilio and Bombi pull up in a cab outside of Adora's home just in time to see Oman and Adora loading up a jeep with the rest of their things. This time, instead of running out of the cab and confronting Adora, Emilio decides to stay in the car and follow them, because he's convinced Adora will lead him to Emilia Rose. Bombi asks him how he can be sure that Emilia Rose is still with Adora. Emilio says it's because of the way Adora panics whenever she sees him.
In the jeep, Adora asks Oman if he knows how to drive, so they can make use of the van. Oman says he can learn. Adora tells him it's okay, she can just ask Nico to recommend a driver, prompting Oman to ask if Nico is interested in Dorina.
Adora quickly says no. Oman says the guy fusses over Dorina too much, and now has even given them free use of a house and a van. Adora says it's only because he wants to improve Dorina's image that Nico is doing all this. She says if she didn't know any better she would think Oman is just jealous because he's in love with Dorina. Oman denies this. Unknown to them, Emilio and Bombi are still trailing them in the cab.
It's mealtime again at the Arguelles home. Barbara says she will accompany Rita to school the next day because they will drop all her classes -- she will no longer be studying. Barbara says she doesn't want Rita to use school as a way to sneak out and meet Jack. Rita looks at Lavinia, hoping her sister will intercede, but Lavinia says nothing.
Barbara reminds the maids just who is paying their salary and orders them to keep a watchful eye on Rita as Rita cries silently.
Barbara and Lavinia are about to leave when Rita's cellphone suddenly rings. Rita sees that the call is from Jack and quickly rejects the call. But Barbara has heard the phone, and pointedly holds out her hand until Rita surrenders her cellphone. Barbara and Lavinia leave.
Jack looks at the phone and sees that his call has been rejected. Still depressed, he returns to his seat at the keyboards, and still says nothing. Chris and Jay can only look at him.
Adora's jeep pulls up in front of ABS-CBN, much to the surprise of Emilio and Bombi. They both jump out of the car -- Emilio to follow Adora inside, and Bombi to take care of the cab.
Adora enters ABS-CBN, completely unaware that she's being followed.
