Episode 8.5

The episode begins with a repeat of last episode's pivotal "Copycat" scene.

***

Lavinia grabs a glass of red wine from the table and throws the wine straight into Dorina's face, while members of the press start taking photographs.

Dorina rushes out of the ballroom, with her family, Oman and Gary chasing after her. Lavinia and Barbara leave, but Larry goes after them and castigates Lavinia for doing what she did in front of the advertisers and the press. She says she doesn't care, because no one does that to her and gets away with it.

Nico has followed them as well and he angrily asks Lavinia if she now fights that low and dirty. He asks her if this is what fame has done to her. Lavinia says if anything has pulled her down, it's Dorina, who's pathetic and nothing more than trash. With barely suppressed anger, Nico tells Lavinia she's become a monster. Lavinia slaps him. Larry grabs her and pulls her away.

Backstage, Adora is ranting, enraged by what has happened. She stops her tirade when Dorina starts sobbing.

At home, Emilio is brooding when Tiyang Letty comes in and shares the good news that her nephew Bombi will soon be paroled as well. When she asks how Emilio is doing, he tells her that he's still looking for his daughter, and that he even saw his wife. Tiyang Letty learns from Emilio that Rosamia merely turned her back on him and that they didn't even speak. He says he only feels anger towards Rosamia now, but Tiyang Letty is not convinced.

Still sobbing, Dorina says she cannot understand how Lavinia can do this to her. She says she can take criticism from anybody, but not from her idol. Bencho reminds Dorina that she was right about Lavinia all along. When Adora tries to shush Bencho, Dorina says Bencho was right. With bitter tears, Dorina says she poured too much of her time and emotions into Lavinia.

Nico enters the room and asks to speak to Dorina alone. He apologizes for what happened. When Dorina tells him it's not his fault, he says he feels responsible because he placed her on the frontlines of the battle, which is why Lavinia attacked her. Disillusioned, Dorina tells him she thought Lavinia was her friend, that Lavinia was supportive of her. Nico tells her Lavinia has changed, that fame has blinded her, that she has been turned by the people around her. She's no longer the Lavinia that they once knew.

Just then, Nico's cellphone buzzes, and after checking the message, he hesitantly tells Dorina that he's being asked to confirm her guesting on a talk show the next day, which is part of her commercial commitments with Jollibee. Dorina says she doesn't think she can do it. Nico tells her now is not the time to act like a martyr. Now that she knows Lavinia's true nature, she shouldn't be frightened. He tells her not to back down, to not give them that satisfaction.

The next day, Larry angrily shows Lavinia the tabloid headlines. He tells her she made Dorina look like the underdog, and that she's actually helped Dorina's career. Now they have to do damage control.

Barbara suggests that Lavinia apologize in public. Larry asks -- and then what? What does she say when people ask why she did it?! Was she hot-headed? Drunk? Having PMS? There's no way out! Larry tells Lavinia it's better for her to stay away from the public and the press until he's figured out a way to deal with it.

Just then, Libby enters the office and turns on the TV, saying they have to watch the show because Dorina is being interviewed.

Dorina is on a talkshow, and in the course of her interview, she explains that she only sang Lavinia's song as a way of showing her gratitude and respect towards Lavinia. When the host asks if Lavinia has contacted her to apologize, and Dorina says no.

The host then reveals that other people overheard Lavinia say that Dorina is just trash. Dorina says it's painful to hear that. Dorina says it's totally unexpected that Lavinia would do this. She also says she cannot understand why Lavinia did it.

When the host asks if it's perhaps Lavinia is insecure or threatened by Dorina, she says she took the pains to make sure that she and Lavinia were never to compete. The host says that despite her intentions, it's only natural that in showbiz there is competition.

He then asks what Dorina's message would be for Lavinia. Dorina addresses Lavinia: My idol Lavinia, I don't know what has happened between us. You know how much I love and respect you, how much I admire you. That won't change no matter what is happening with my career. You're my inspiration, you have given me the courage to go after my dreams.

The host thanks her for appearing on his show, and says he hopes one day, she will learn to fight for herself. He then turns to the screen and invites Lavinia to air her side on his show.

Libby turns off the TV. Larry angrily tells Lavinia that this is all her doing. Just then, someone else enters the room -- one of Lavinia's commercial endorsers has arrived without an appointment demanding to see Larry. Larry says he hopes they're not pulling their endorsement. He leaves to meet with his client.

Left alone in the office, Barbara castigates Lavinia for her stupidity. Barbara tells her everything they've worked for can vanish because of what she's done. Lavinia defends herself by saying she was merely following her emotions. Barbara tells her she should be controlling her emotions, not letting herself be controlled by them. You should never show people what you're thinking or what you're feeling because they will not like you once they know the real you! Get it into your head that people are always watching you, so you should always be careful!!

LaCalma calls for a press conference. Larry starts by assuring everyone that all of Lavinia's endorsers are still behind her 100%. One of the reporters then asks Lavinia why she did what she did.

Lavinia tells the press that when Dorina was first starting out, she was supporting Dorina all the time, giving her encouragement and moral support. But what people don't know is that Dorina's only goal is not to fulfill her dreams or to entertain people, but rather it's to destroy Lavinia's career.

Oscar, seated with the rest of the press, says -- we all know that Dorina only became known because she was always associated with Lavinia.

Lavinia tearfully tells everyone that Dorina is even stealing her projects. She says she understands that this really happens in showbiz, but what's most painful for her is the fact that it's Dorina who is doing this to her. She also felt like Dorina was taunting her by singing her song the other night. She admits that what she did was wrong, but it was really Dorina who started it all.

At home, Dorina silently cries as she watches Lavinia's press conference on TV.

Later, Dorina and Nico talk backstage as the rest of the band performs. Nico tells her that so many people are outside and that she's the one they came to see. He acknowledges that she intends to quit after she finishes the commercial, but pleads with her to think about it. She has come so far, achieved so much, and so many people admire and love her. He asks her to think things through again if she's going to quit only because of Lavinia.

When Dorina stays quiet, he also apologizes for using her; he admits he shouldn't have hidden the truth from her.

Dorina turns to Nico and asks him to tell her the truth -- was Lavinia ever happy with all the leis that Dorina gave her? And when she fainted at the concert, was it really Lavinia who sent the flowers? Nico can only look at her, unable to deny the truth. Dorina turns away and says it's just as well she has become aware of Lavinia's true nature this early.
